Embrace Spring

Spring is here! Spring is here! The sun is shining, the clocks have gone forward and we are starting our journey to British Summer, so hang onto your hat and lets go!

We have spent so long being cold and being in the dark, now is our time to shine. Have a think about the last 3-4 months, is there something you have been waiting to do in the better weather or are unsure if you should try? Or has the gym or exercise taken a back seat as it’s more of a spring thing? Or did you hibernate over the winter months and are now ready to get back to it and try something new or make a change you have always dreamed of? Now is the time to let go of the past and focus on the new and start doing more of the things you love.

Ok so the duvet is off, the sun is shining through your bedroom window and you are ready to get going with a spring in your step. You feel awakened by the heat of the sun, the light of the sun and most importantly you are beginning to feel ready to stretch up and out like a flower. Lets get spring underway.

Here are 5 ideas for you to embrace this spring:

  1. Get up early – choose one thing to do in the morning that YOU want to do. Whilst it will take a wee while for the light mornings to appear, do something for yourself. Get up 30 minutes early and embrace this time for you. You could read your book, go out into the garden and pot some plants, feed the birds and watch them, or print photos off and create a photo album the old fashioned way. The daylight always manages to make us feel good, so use this time to your advantage and enjoy the morning light.
  2. Garden – now is the time to get your garden looking good. Have a think about what you want it to look like and what plants you want to grow. Think about colours and what would work well in your garden. If you aren’t sure, then ask your neighbours or friends, we all know someone who knows how to garden and will likely be more than happy to help you.
  3. Go outside – spend time in the fresh air and enjoy. Go for a walk in the woods and notice all the flowers starting to appear. Notice the birds and perhaps squirrels appearing. Why not take a blanket and sit in a park or in the woods and have a picnic whilst enjoying the lovely weather, fresh air and nature.
  4. Do something new – is there something you really want to do? Have you got something you keep putting off or think you shouldn’t do because you won’t be able to do it? Do you want to change career but think you are too old, or it’s a silly idea or no-one will take you seriously, or you just keep putting it off. It could be something like you want to read a book to find out more about the planets or something bigger like studying to be a doctor. Think about why you are putting it off? Now is the perfect time to get things moving. You have the idea, the seed has already been planted, so nurture it, come up with steps to do in the next 5 days and make your idea come to fruition. It may be the best decision you have made. Spring is all about the new.
  5. Let go of something old – well, not a completely new you but what do you want to let go off? Is it your hairstyle? Your clothes? Your expectations? Change is always hard, but “a change is as good as a rest” they say. So get the hairstyle you want, change your clothes and buy something you perhaps wouldn’t normally and mix it up. What about your expectations? Are these for you or for someone else? Do you expect so much of others and they constantly let you down or are you always letting yourself down as you expect so much more from yourself? This is a tricky one, but if you want to change it, you need to work through why and then work out how to let it go. You need to be kind to yourself when you are letting go of the old and embracing the new. It isn’t always easy, but think of the reasons why you are doing it in the first place and focus on the outcome you want to achieve.

Spring is a great time to embrace the new and try something different. Be brave and commit to something new for you this spring.

Have a great week, thank you for reading and look after you!

Love Emma xx
