I really am in awe of all the different religions around the world and the numbers of people who have faith. No matter the religion or reason, it brings people much comfort and joy when needed most. They are surrounded by a community of like minded people who come together to teach, learn and understand their life through the help of those they worship and celebrate.
Do you have faith? Do you celebrate or worship a god/goddess/deities or buddha? Do you do this daily, weekly or as and when you feel the need? There is no right or wrong way to have faith. It’s all about what you see as a guide to help you throughout your life.
If you go to a place of worship regularly then you will know how peaceful it can be, particularly if it is not during an active service. People go and contemplate lives difficult decisions or to get some peace in an otherwise hectic day. They go to get clarity through the help of their faith.
This week I have been thinking about what my “faith” is? Whilst I may not worship any god or go to church on Sunday. My religion is nature. My faith is in nature. Nature brings me comfort and joy. It is there for me when my wellbeing is low or I just want to be wowed by what they world has to offer. I can access it anytime of day or night, just like religion.
All you need to have faith is an open heart, love and understanding will come in time. Here are 5 reason why I put my faith in nature:
- It’s right in front of you – you don’t need anything or need to go to a specific place. You can open your front door, step out and there you are, in the fresh air surrounded by nature. Whether you live in the country or in a built up city, you can choose where to go to get the best of nature. Even if all you do is walk the pavements near where you live, you will likely see something or feel the breeze or sun on your face. If I am having a bad day or feel like I need to boost my wellbeing, getting outside and going for a walk makes me feel good. I have never come back from a walk feeling worse than when I went out.
- There is so much to see – You can go to the coast and walk along the beach or go to a local forest and wander through it, touching the trees as you go. You might go on a river walk and notice the water meandering and or go on a hike up a hill and enjoy the views from the top. You may do the same walk but see many different things depending on the time of day, the season, or your observation skills.
- Wildlife is beautiful – Wherever, you go, you will come across wildlife of some description. It might be rabbits happily munching on the grass or birds flying high or hopping around finding food, squirrels jumping from tree to tree. What about the bugs on the ground or the fish in the river or ducks quacking as the meander down a stream. Watching their world and what they do is fascinating. Pick a spot in the woods, by the river or even up the hill you just hiked. Sit down and observe the wildlife. Take the time to enjoy, you never know, you might see something unusual or unexpected. Always have your phone ready to take a photo.
- Ever changing – Watching what nature does next is always amazing, the seasons come and go, the weather can change things instantly but still nature continues on the path it set out too. The trees will come to life in spring, the leaves will be green and lucious in summer, in autumn they will fall and in winter the tree stands tall and proud, awaiting the warmth from spring to come around. Nature will always do her thing.
- New opportunities – Whilst the world turns and the seasons change, nature will do what it needs to survive and go through the cycles of life and death. Nothing stays the same for long. Each day begins and is a new opportunity, This is something we should learn to embrace. It doesn’t matter how bad yesterday went, focus on today and begin again if you need.
Whatever your faith or religion, if it works for you, then embrace it and do what you feel is right for you. Other people will have their opinions, however you are the only one living your life, so your choices are your business.
Have a great week, enjoy your religion and stay faithful.
Love Emma xx
