6 Weeks Of Summer

Feeling blugh? Or have itchy feet to go travelling? Feeling like you need a reset? Enjoying the summer weather but feel you want to do something different or want to get your bounce back?

Well, why not use the summer to go wild and do something fun you’ve always wanted to do?

Lets say you have 6 weeks of summer. This gives you plenty of time to execute a fun plan whilst still enjoying some time outdoors. Don’t limit yourself, instead, go with what you would love to do and during the planning phase, work out how to overcome the challenges or adapt so there won’t be an issue. Here are some ideas to help get you thinking:

  1. You want to travel to South America but you don’t have much money.
  2. You want to learn to bake cakes, but have never followed a recipe.
  3. You want to improve your Crow pose in your yoga practice.
  4. You want to read 10 books.

Your wish can be anything you want, don’t hold back. Use these 6 weeks to plan, make a start and either achieve what you want or begin the journey to your success. This will help you to get your sparkle back and feel good. So let’s get started.

Now you know what you want to do you need to figure a few things out, such as how quickly or easily can your activity or task be completed? For example, if you want to travel to South America, is it realistic for you to do it by the end of the 6 weeks or are your 6 weeks spent planning? By the end of summer you have a definite plan for when you will travel, how you will travel, what will you do whilst there, where you will stay and how much it will cost?

You don’t need to complete your activity within the 6 weeks, your aim is to make a start, plan it out and do what you can to move things forward.

Make sure you are realistic with what is possible to achieve both in the timeframe and out with. The chances are you will be working, so it is unlikely you will have a free run of 6 weeks to do as you please. Make sure you factor in all the other things you need to do over the 6 weeks to work out a true timeline. Factor in things like looking after/spending time with your children, walking the dog, holidays with family or friends, or people coming to stay. The time you have left is the time you can spare to either move your activity along or complete it.

Work out what you want to achieve by the end of the 6 weeks and work back from there. This will give you a clearer picture of what you want and what it looks like. You want to start with the end result. If you aren’t quite sure how it will look, have a rough idea. You want to know what complete looks like – have a picture in your mind. How will you know when you have ‘finished’ your task.

As well as time, you will need to have a think about things such as money – is this going to be a constraint? Will you need time to save? Can you work out a realistic timescale to save the amount you need? Can you save money by adapting your plan ie instead of flying with a well known airline, you choose the one that is cheaper and less frills.

Has there been anything holding you back from doing this activity before now? Are these points to be considered in your plan? Think of the worse thing that can happen. Is this likely to happen? If so, put contingency plans in place so you don’t have to worry about it unless it happens.

Now you have thought about what you want to do, what the end results looks like and what the plan is, you can get started. As well as making a plan for your activity or task, make sure you make a plan for the 6 weeks as well. Otherwise you may find the time goes too quickly and you haven’t moved forward.

As the 6 weeks goes on, you may find you want to tweak your plan if it isn’t going as expected or you have changed your mind on a few things, adapt as you need and continue pushing forward.

Just think, by the end of summer you could have a plan to go on holiday next year to South America, be applying for the next series of Bake Off, be able to do the Crow pose better than you expected and have now moved on to master a head stand or even have read 10 books! You wont know where it will take you unless you start! So give it a go. Good luck and enjoy your summer.

Thank you for reading, have a great week and look after you.

Love Emma xx
