Welcome to the next instalment of my monthly series The A – Z of Positivity. Today we are looking at the letter K. This letter is inviting us to be kind to ourselves amongst other things. Take a moment to yourself and read on.
K
Kindness – Kindness is one of the simplest gifts we can give to ourselves and others. It’s impact can be huge and last a long time. Whether you lend an ear, say kind words or help someone when they need it most, it can completely change someone’s day. It doesn’t need to be a grand gesture or anything expensive, instead it can often be found in the little moments we choose, such as understanding, compassion or even patience. Kindness is beneficial to both the person receiving it and the person giving it. Being kind can help create connections, through volunteering, helping someone in their hour of need or just being there and spending time with people. Giving up your time to do something good not only spreads positivity but also reminds us that we are all in this together. Don’t forget, being kind doesn’t cost a penny.
Kiss – Who doesn’t like a kiss? From a peck on the cheek to a full blown snog, a kiss can convey numerous things. A loving kiss from your partner expressing love. Or a kiss from a child who loves you unconditionally, looking for reassurance or comfort. A gentle kiss on the cheek from your parents or a friend that says ‘I love you’, ‘miss you’ or ‘good to see you’ all at the same time. A kiss reminds us of connection and to appreciate the people who matter most to us. So next to you kiss someone or they kiss you, take a moment to smile and know you are loved.
Keepsake – A keepsake is often a small object with the value of it within the memories it holds. It could be anything from a photograph, a trinket, a letter, to a souvenir from a holiday or a pebble from a favourite beach. The keepsake could be from someone you love or a treasure you picked up yourself. The memories make you smile, laugh and/or remind you of good times. Keepsakes remind us of those special moments in our lives, the happy times, sad times, important milestones and the people who have a special place in our heart. When times are hard these small items can bring us comfort and joy and remind us of the positive moments within our life.
Knowledge – We all have knowledge and this helps us to grow. We learn and gain knowledge through a variety of different ways. We might read a book, or an article online or have a conversation, perhaps sign up for a class to gain more knowledge or skills. Every day offers many opportunities to learn, through our hobbies, challenges, work, a moment of curiosity, or through a mistake. In our every day lives we are learning through what we do and all the experience gained helps us to understand the world around us as well as ourselves a little bit more. Knowledge builds confidence and helps us make informed decisions as well as opens doors to new possibilities.
The letter K has shown that kindness helps us connect with others, kisses remind us of love and affection, knowledge helps us grow, and keepsakes preserve precious memories. Together they show us positivity can be found in our actions, our relationships, our learning, and in the wee treasures we hold close to our hearts.
Join me next month when I will be looking at the letter L in the A – Z of Positivity series.
Have a lovely week, look after you and see what positivity you can bring into your life this week.
Love Emma xx
