A Day To Focus On You

Hi everyone! Happy Easter! How are you all doing? I’m sure you’ll have found new and different ways to do things. It certainly is challenging and pushes us to think outside of the box. Infact, I don’t even think the box is a box anymore.

With all this time to think in our own space, think about the things we want to do, the things we wished we’d done and once this is all over, the things we are going to do! then why not spend some time thinking about your ideal day, a day that is filled with everything YOU want to do. It’s not about what is or isn’t possible and it’s not to say you have to do this, think of what makes you happy and create a day that takes all the wonderful things you enjoy and fill it with what you love to do. If it isn’t something you can easily achieve now, keep it for when all this is over and you can.

Here are some ideas to help you and to get your creative thoughts flowing. Grab a pen and paper or your ipad or tablet and start noting down your ideas. Split your day into three. Morning, afternoon and evening.

What does your morning look like, do you want to have a long lie and wake up to breakfast in bed or do you want to get up and do yoga or go out for cycle? Perhaps you want to take a walk along the beach and listen to the waves crashing and smelling the salty sea air. Or sitting out in the garden listening to the birds or painting your view. What is it that makes you excited or relaxed that would really start your day off in a positive and delightful way.

What would you choose to have for breakfast? Are you indulgent? Would you prefer to go out? Maybe your partner cooks you breakfast or you make it yourself. What would it be? Have you always dreamed of having pancakes with peanut butter, chocolate and ice cream for breakfast or maybe a piece of fruit and a yogurt is all you need to start your day awesomely. Maybe your ideal breakfast is meeting your friends and having a catch up for an hour or two whilst sitting in your favourite restaurant or cafe.

Now think about what activity would bring you joy after your breakfast, maybe playing a game with your kids in the garden or taking your dog for a walk through the woods. What about sitting in a park reading your book or just lying back and listening to music as you watch the clouds and the shapes they make. Remember if it makes you happy and excited then write it down. You shouldn’t feel constricted.

Lunchtime, what favourite foods are you thinking about. Maybe you are mad for cheese and pickle sandwiches from a local deli that always feels like a treat, or the carrot and coriander soup from the bakery that is just sublime. Perhaps it’s a picnic you make yourself and go to the lake or loch to eat whilst surrounded by amazing scenery. Are you there alone or is someone else with you? This day is about you, but it doesn’t mean you can’t share it with people, do what YOU want.

What kind of afternoon do you have arranged. Are you outside or inside? Perhaps you want to indulge in the box set you’ve been saving for a rainy day or watch that movie you’ve been dying to see. Maybe you are going to watch and support your favourite team. Or maybe it’s about relaxing and having a lovely massage. If it makes you smile and your insides feel great, then do it.

Now it comes to dinner! What is your favourite meal? Is this something you or your partner/mother/father/sister/friend makes? Or is it only found in your favourite restaurant? Then book a table and go! Maybe it’s just dessert you go out for? Maybe your favourite meal is in your favourite city or holiday destination, could you recreate it? Or find a similar restaurant nearby?

Finally your evening. Do you go out dancing to a club or maybe take a salsa dance class with your partner? What about going to see an opera or to the ballet? Maybe a cosy night in with your other half, watching a movie or playing monopoly. Or, you get comfy in the chaise long you’ve always dreamed of having at your bay window and you sit reading your book in the moonlight. It’s your evening, so make it one to enjoy.

After your magical day doing the things you love, you can drift off happily into a deep sleep.

Now that you have your ideal day planned, keep it safe, you could re-write it and put it up on your wall or on the fridge. Be creative and put all your ideas down on a vision board. We are often great at planning things, but if we hide them away, they soon get forgotten, so why not make it something you see daily. Who knows, maybe one day, you can take the time to have your day, perhaps it’s possible now, during lock down. In which case, I encourage you to do it. You can always plan another day to focus on you!

Have a great week, stay safe and look after you.

Love Emma 😍 xx

  1. This is a great idea! Even if you can’t make it happy right now it’s great to see it on paper.
