A Week Of Wellbeing

This past week, I wanted to try and do something each day that would be great for my wellbeing (and no it wasn’t just about walking 😆), it was about consciously making an effort to feel good! I’m not doing anything crazy and most things you’ll possibly do already but it may help you to get some ideas and carve out a little time for you each day. It doesn’t have to be a big activity, a few minutes here and there can make all the difference.

Sunday

Sunday’s start with writing my blog, so last weeks blog was written today. And whilst writing it, I thought it would be a great idea to try and do a little thing each day to feel good. So on Sunday which happened to be a beautiful sunny day, I sat out in my garden and read my book. It was lovely and peaceful, a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Doing something you love can be all it takes to help you feel good!

Monday

Surprisingly, I was awake early and went out for a lovely walk, it is always great to get out before everyone is up and about. A great way to start the day! I didn’t make it out for a lunchtime walk, so I was grateful at the end of the day, to do yoga, It was an hour of feeling good, pushing myself followed by a lovely 10 minutes or so of relaxation which I think I fell asleep at one point! Very chilled way to end the day and I was ready to go to bed and sleep afterwards.

Tuesday

Another hot day which was great. I was in a bit of a funk today, lots going on and just feeling a bit flat. However, I went for a walk at lunchtime, spoke with my parents and tried to help them with some technology related things…..that was a challenge 😆 but a good laugh which definitely helped me and at least my parents try to get to grips with it all! That brought me out of my funk. It’s good to talk as they say. I love getting out for a walk at lunchtime if I can, and when the sun shines, this really makes me feel good. Feeling the sun on me, looking at the blue skies and enjoying the heat, brilliant, shame I had to go back to work.

Wednesday

Sleep is good, and a little extra sleep can help us feel refreshed and better equipped to face the day ahead. The last few days have been pretty hectic and the heat all combined to feelings of utter tiredness. I had a nice long snooze this morning which was needed, a little bit of self care to get me ready for the day. It can be the simplest of things that help us to feel good. A lovely walk at lunchtime helped me grab some time to get away from work and listen to a podcast. We might not get a full day to do the things we love, however, we can grab the moments when they present themselves and enjoy them.

Thursday

This is my day of rushing from work to the gym, add in a lovely hot day and by the end of my training session I was a sweaty mess! So a cool shower was just what was needed. Bliss! The gym is obviously a fantastic way to care for yourself and lifting weights helps me feel strong and pretty good! After all that I’m looking to wind down and a completely random activity I’ve found that relaxes me, so much so my Fitbit thinks I’m asleep, is doing jigsaws on my iPad. Honestly, if you asked me about a year or so ago to do a jigsaw, I’d have said no. But they truly chill me out, which is great after a busy day! I do them when watching TV and I find them calming! If you’re not sure, give it a go!

Friday

What a fabulous week weather wise! Today was no different, another scorcher. A walk at lunchtime and an after work catch up with a friend for a few drinks whilst sitting in her garden enjoying the evening sun, certainly made me feel good. A good catch up was had and we had plenty of laughs as well. A great way to end the week!

Saturday

Wasn’t feeling too great today, a mixture of too much sun and alcohol followed by a car journey which made me feel sick. Motion sickness is awful. Thankfully I had ginger tea with me so drank it and felt a bit better. After our family meeting, I drove home to relax and catch up on our favourite TV shows from the week. I went to bed early as still wasn’t feeling right and thought a good nights sleep would help my body reset.

And here we are on Sunday and it’s blog writing time. As you can see there are so many things I do in the week to help me feel good, they are not big amazing costly activities but being able to grab some time for me and do something I love is really important. It could be a walk at lunchtime, or 5 mins sitting reading my book, or watching an episode of something I love. Taking that time out and looking after you is what is important. So see what you can do this week for yourself, do what you love, even if it’s a quick cuppa, standing outside in the garden for 5 minutes, just do it and take time for you!

Have a great week and enjoy and look after you!

Love Emma xxx
