The A – Z of Positivity – F

Welcome to the next instalment of my monthly series The A – Z of Positivity. Today we are looking at the letter F. Let’s take a look to see where positivity can take us.

F

Fun – Life is short so it is really important for you to have fun. Laugh, do things that make you happy and bring positivity into your life. Spend time with the people you love and do more of the activities you enjoy and gets you excited. For example if fun to you is doing a jigsaw or baking or running, or abseiling or swimming then do more. If you love it, do more of it and have fun. Or if you are looking for something new, there are many activities you can participate in whether you want to be in a team or group or just go solo. Get out there and explore and above all else have fun.

Family – Whether you are close to your family and chat all the time or you only see them on special occasions and talk irregularly, it is great to have these connections. Whilst life moves on and family may move away, they will likely be there to help boost your mood when you are feeling down or can be relied upon when you need them most. They are your familiar and sometimes it feels like ‘home’ when you are with them.

Friends – As the saying goes ‘friends are the family we choose for ourselves’. Friends are there for us, they have our back and will help us when we need it. They offer advice but more importantly they listen. When we need or want to rant to get things off our chest, friends lend an ear and allow us the space to do so. Friends can boost your positivity in an instant, whether it is remembering a funny story from your past or sitting having a cup of coffee or prosecco catching up on the week. Friends can help you when you need it most to turn those bad days into positive ones.

Flow – The feelings you get when you are absorbed in doing something you love, for example reading, painting, baking, the list goes on and it can be anything. It is where you find your flow and feel alive in the present moment. Nothing else matters apart from the activity you are absorbed in. Time flies when you are having fun.

Freedom – The majority of us live in a world where we can be free, in our homelife and careers. We are lucky. We have permission to be ourself and from here we can choose to grow, change and do what we want to make us happy. Freedom can mean different things to different people. Having your own space and deciding what’s next or where to travel to or what career you want to have gives you the opportunity to blossom. You have the freedom to go and do whatever you wish and this is a huge positive that many of us forget as we go through our usual day to day. Today, take a moment to think about what you have and what you want and what freedom has given you.

Football – It’s world cup time and football fever is truly upon us. Whether you support it or not. It is a great sport for bringing people together. With Scotland having won their first match, it is amazing how much positivity this will bring to the whole country. I guarantee this will get many people talking, whether they usually care or not. There will be a lot more conversations in the street, in the shops and at work about the win and the world cup in general. Football gets people together and gets them talking. It gets children and adults alike excited and encourages kids to get out there and play as they never know – they could be on the team at future world cups.

Friday – The majority of people I know work Monday to Friday. By mid week they are already talking about the weekend. Friday appears to be the most positive day of the week in terms of peoples mood. It marks the end of the working week and the beginning of fun. Giving people the freedom to do whatever they want. I am sure you will have noticed on a Friday in the workplace – particularly if you work in an office, you will see more people smiling, chatting and the mood feels lighter. You’ve got to love the Friday feeling.

As you can see from the above there are many positives woven into our everyday lives. Being positive isn’t about being sickly annoying and wearing rose tinted glasses and always being so cheery. It is about noticing and working with what you have and feel, to give you a better mindset, brighten your outlook, and bring more positivity into your world. Join me next month when we look at the letter G in my continuation of the A – Z of Positivity series.

Thank you for reading.

Have a positive week and look after you.

Love Emma xx
